Highlights from our Narnia Night of winter crafting

It was freezing and the trains were buggered up but we still managed a full-house for Narnia Night; our last event of the year which involved Aslan lion pom-poms, snow queen tree decorations and a surprise raffle won by the above lucky gent who took home a copy of Make It Your Own, the new book by local textile designer A. Alicia.
Knit & Knatter
'tis the season to get your needles out and for those who don't know how to knit, our fabulous volunteers led by Beryl from London's Knaughty Knitters taught some newbies how it's done...

While others came along to work on their own projects

We were particularly impressed by this crochet bauble
Braiding with Louise Reed

Coming up: Narnia Night Tuesday 26th November 2013

Illustration by Sal Hughson, and Matthew Lee
Brrrrrrr! We're feeling cold, but we're not going to let that stop us crafting! We are ending the year with a winter wonderland themed Narnia Night, inspired by C S Lewis' fantasy tale.

As ever the Attic will be like a wardrobe into another world, where you can cut, stick, colour, stitch and knit away with other friendly creative peeps. Come and join us!

SNOW QUEEN TREE DECORATIONS

Local textile artist, baker and author Alison Beadnell will be showing you how to make a seasonal decoration that you can hang around your home, on your Christmas tree or perhaps on yourself, snow queen style?

ASLAN POM POMS

Could this be the cutest workshop ever! We fell in love with these lion pom poms on the Mr Printables website and will be showing you how to make some of your own.

WOOLLY WOODLAND FINGER PUPPETS

If you thought the lion pom-poms were cute, check out these beauties! Make little woodland puppets inspired by the character's you would find living in Narnia to help you tell your own magical tales.

KUMIHIMO BRAIDING
Make Escape regular Louise Reed can often be seen braiding in the Attic! This month she's sharing the intricacies of the artform and will be showing you how to make braids that can be turned into jewellery, keyrings or used in your gift wrapping.

PLUS we'll have a heap of seasonal collage corner projects,  make a start on your Christmas cards, bring along your own projects to work on, learn to knit with our in-house knitting gurus or just come and hang out with us.

Back behind the decks with month are the wonderful Spinning Yarns Djs and as usual we've got our own bar.

See you there!

Fright Night Halloween Craft Night Highlights!

Ghouls, ghosts & glitter! Our Halloween Craft Night was spookytastic.
Here are some of our favourite moments expertly snapped up by Greg McKinney...

There were also two sad moments this month. We had to say farewell to two of our favourite Make Escapers : (

First up, Lucky aka Farcreazy Farid, a super talent illustrator and graphic novel artist who was one of our most popular workshopper leaders who is moving to Kenya!

And finally The One And Only Al.

There would have been no Make Escape without Al, he's the one who answered our email when we first asked the Attic if we could host the Make Escape there and he's looked after us since.
We'll miss you Al!

Like the look of our pics? Make sure you come along and be part of our next craft event:
Narnia Night
Tuesday 29th November 2013, 7.30pm,
Hackney Attic, 270 Mare Street, Hackney, London, E8

It's our last craft night of the year so don't miss it - we'll be crafting wintering/xmassy goodness.
