Day Of The Dead Craft Night: Highlights

Our Day of The Dead/Halloween Craft night was the perfect excuse for Momtaz to make and wear the biggest Sugar Skull Necklace ever!
The plastic 'door hanger' base came from the 99p shop, while the bling came from her own personal collage corner.
Speaking of which, our own Collage Corner was filled with themed goodies to make like...
Day Of The Dead Shrines...
Spooktastic masks...
Sugar skull brooches...
And Trick Or Treat Bags!
We were joined by Katie from ArtyardHandmade who are based in Richmond and run craft workshops and parties for children and adults, who led the session on making felt brooches.
And the amazing Karen and Jo from Use It Up Wear It Out who led a
Day of The Dead mask workshop.
A seriously spooky soundtrack was provided by our resident DJs Dan and Isabel
While visuals came courtesy of Beetlejuice (remember do not say his name 3 times!)
We welcomed our first Work Trip - four colleagues came along for some post-work crafting
Wonder if the rest of the team recognised them in the morning?
What an amazing mask!
Here are some of the other creations from the night:
Venetian masks
Owl masks
Collaged masks
Lots of friends crafting together
A gift to be donated to Death by Burrito
And a skull who looks like he's ready for Movember!
Plus more collagey goodness!
Oh an a witch dropped by too!
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to come down!
What an amazing night. Also big thanks to Obie for helping set up and get well soon to our Becky.
See you in November for our Winter Wonderland for a knitting and weaving extravagaza!

Day Of The Dead Craft Night Tue 30 October 2012

Dia de los Muerto or Day or The Dead is a Mexican holiday where people pray for and remember friends and loved ones who have died.....but it's no sombre affair!
It falls the day after Halloween and as our next craft night is the day before that we had to bring you a spooky, skull filled evening of making!
As ever we have some fabulous & free workshops lined up.....
First up: Our fave eco-chic designers, Karen and Jo from Use It Up Wear It Out are running a Day Of The Dead Mask workshop....just like this rather gorgeous mask above! WOW!!!! All the materials are provided.....amazing!

Or: If you're more of a 'skull' than a mask kind of person then you'll want to join Artyard Handmade in their stitch workshop where you can sew your own snazzy skull brooch. Arty Yard is a studio that runs crafts workshops near Richmond...find out more about them at the end of the blog!*

For one month only, we're converting our usual Collage Corner into a Creepy Corner......expect...ghoulish, blood curdling craftyness.

Never been to The Make Escape before?
Ok, so here's how it works...it's free to drop in from 7.30-10.30 and you can take part in which ever craft sessions you like, OR bring along your own project to work on. We have a stocked bar, brilliant DJs, comfy seats and lots of nice people to make friends with. It's all free, including the materials.....unless you want to bring in your own?!

It's very chilled, very creative and super dooper fun. All sessions are drop in BUT this month we have limited spaces on the Day Of The Dead mask workshop by Use It Up Wear It Out.....so for that one you must get there early!

See you there x

*More about Artyard as promised!

The studio offers the more traditional crafts as well as a vibrant twist on contemporary, quirky designs and ideas.
This Autumn sees the return of their popular Photography Masterclass and a host of Christmas workshops to get you in the festive spirit, complete with mulled wine and mince pies! Come inside our studio for an evening of making and escapism.
