About

The Make Escape is the brainchild of Founder Momtaz Begum-Hossain who is considered one of the UK's most influential Crafts Experts.* Momtaz started The Make Escape in 2012 because she wanted to make crafts more accessible to people and she now continues to run it with fellow craft enthusiast and Jewellery Designer Mia Vilcins (aka Mia LittleWolf).

The title 'The Make Escape' sums up our evening. It's about forgetting about your everyday stresses, and doing something different in the evenings after work. We have an open door policy: anyone can come along, whatever your age, background or experience. The nights are completely FREE, we never charge an entrance fee, all materials are provided and all workshops are drop in so there's no need to book, simply turn up and join in.

We believe that everyone can craft; you don't need specific skills, or a lot of money so we use recycled and donated materials in our workshops.

We rely on volunteer craft tutors to run the workshops; people who also believe in our ethos of simply giving people a chance to get in touch with their creativity, in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment.

You can come on your own, with friends, family, colleagues, in groups or even on a date; there's always people to speak to.

As well as a range of workshops to take part in, you can also bring along crafts projects you are working on at home and come and work on them, in a space that's much more interesting than being sat at home!

We have a fully licensed bar, food on sale and DJs to provide a soundtrack to the evening's crafting.

Regular sessions include our Knitting Knook, where we always have tutors on hand to teach knitting and a Collage Corner where you can cut and paste to your heart's content.

We welcome donations of crafts materials that we can add to our pool of supplies for everyone to share. So if you have spare yarn, sequins, card, paper, fabric etc that you don't need bring it along to one of our nights and we will give it a home.

Or if you are a business or company who would like to sponsor a workshop by giving us materials, we would love to work with you!

In addition we are always looking for volunteer craft tutors to run workshops and volunteers to help us run the night which includes helping us set up and tidy up on the evenings, coming up with themes and projects and helping us publicise the night. If this sounds like you please drop us an email at themakeescape@googlemail.com.

PLUS! As well as our free night we run private craft workshops and events, great for parties and corporate groups. So if you'd like us to come to you to run some craft activities let us know! Check out our more at www.themakeescape.com

Thank you!
